We have grapes available at the Perkins station.  So far no one has purchased any (that I know of).  We have several varieties to choose from.  If you are interested call Jerry Moore at 405-547-2672.  Harvest will continue for a couple more weeks some more coming all the time.

Just a reminder for everyone that we'll be having our July LCGGA meeting tomorrow night (8/2) at the Senior Center in Chandler.

Items on the agenda for tomorrow:

Field Testing/Berry Sampling

Some of our member winery owners (Richard Kennedy, Mike Greenfield, and Heather Violett) will be presenting a program on field testing/berry sampling.  Also, we are inviting any interested growers to bring 100 berry samples to tomorrow night's meeting for testing.  Should you choose to bring in one or more samples, follow the instructions here (under Table 2 - Berry Sampling) for each varietal:

http://www.fst.vt.edu/extension/enology/VC/Jan-Feb01.html#GSamp

Please be sure to refrigerate your samples until the meeting!

Winery Mailing for Growers Without Buyers

Also, for any growers without identified buyers for your grapes - we will be sending a list to all state wineries.  If you would like to be included, please bring: contact info, variety, estimated amount available, asking price.

Coon Trap Needed!

Finally, if anyone has a working coon trap, we are looking for a volunteer to bring one in so it can be demonstrated.  If you are interested, please contact Heather Violett or Richard Kennedy.

As always, fundraiser meal starts at 6:00 p.m., meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. Meal is $5, glass of wine is $2, and wine tasting following the meeting is $2.

Hope to see everyone there!

Open Forum for the Oklahoma Grape and Wine Industry
Thursday, July 22 / 7:00 p.m.

The meeting will take place at Redlands Community College (Arts Science Building located on the south end of campus)
1300 S. Country Club Rd. in El Reno, OK

Please be advised that Redlands Community College will host an open forum for any and all parties involved in the Oklahoma grape and wine industry. If you are an Oklahoma Wine Maker Licensee or are a grower you are highly encouraged to attend. The ABLE Commission is looking at possible changes and has requested feedback on the following topics:

·         Festival definition

·          Sample Size

·         Boundaries of wine consumption at festivals

·          Number of days a festival can be held

·          Vicarious Liability

The Oklahoma Grape Growers and Wine Makers Association has provided feedback to the ABLE Commission in regards to these topics as discussed at their last semi-annual meeting.

This is your opportunity to have your voice heard. We ask that all parties set aside their differences for this important meeting. ABLE has agreed to meet at this central location, at a time outside of their normal working hours, to give the industry an opportunity to be heard. If the meeting includes more ABLE personnel than effected individuals from the Oklahoma wine industry it will send a clear message as to the level of interest the industry has in its own future. Again, you are highly encouraged to attend.
